The first thing we found out was that the average rate of a first-year executive management assistant was $49,841 a year. This means that on average they make $23.55 per hour. This figure is only slightly less than the median hourly pay for all executive management assistants at $23.89 per hour. So on average, executive management assistants make just under $24 per hour.
While this is not a lot of money, you have to remember that this is just their first year and that they have a lot to learn. Almost 50% of all first-year executive management assistants made between $37,000 and $73,000 a year. This means that a little more than half of them were making between $37,000 and $73,000 a year in their first year as executive management assistants.
This shows us how competitive these positions are. Also, how important it is to find ones with great benefits and excellent pay as soon as possible to get ahead in your career as an executive management assistant!
What Factors Influence An Executive Management Assistant’s Salary?
Geographic Location
We found out that there were some major differences between salaries depending on where an executive management assistant lived! For example, in New York City our survey found that the average salary of an executive management assistant was $69,520 a year, which is $35.93 per hour. This is far higher than the national average of $49,841 a year and $23.55 per hour.
In San Francisco, however, the average salary of an executive management assistant was $64,739 a year, which is $32.59 per hour. This is slightly lower than the national average of $49,841 a year and $23.55 per hour. So while some places have higher salaries than others it remains true that executive management assistants have some of the highest paying jobs around!
Position Level
The next thing we found out was that the position level of an executive management assistant had a large impact on their salary. The more experience they had, the more money they made.
For example, when we compared the salaries of executive management assistants in the first year with the salaries of Executive Management Assistants in the second year we found that they made $5,000 more per year on average. This is $2.27 per hour more than the first year. Similarly, when we compared the salaries of Executive Management Assistants in their third year with Executive Management Assistants in their fourth year we found that they made $8,000 more per year on average. This is $3.78 per hour more than the third year!
