Senior Vice President
A senior vice president (SVP) is a high-ranking executive officer. It has overall responsibility for one or more major divisions within a company or organization.
A senior vice president typically reports directly to top management or directly to the chief executive officer (CEO) in a top-down hierarchy. Some organizations have made this title redundant with that of vice president, even eliminating it in favor of three levels below the vice president. The associate vice presidents, assistant vice presidents, and vice presidents. With each having varying areas of authority depending on the size and type of company.
Sometimes this title is used interchangeably with “chief officer” or “general manager” in large organizations. Wherein management spans multiple levels into lower departments/divisions/branches/units/subsidies/affiliates etc.
For example:
* Reed Hastings is the SVP of Netflix. He is responsible for all aspects of Netflix’s business including product development, marketing, corporate development, finance, HR, IT, and legal.
* John C. Manchester is the SVP of Hilton Hotels Corporation. He directs the company’s worldwide operations and functions as a member of the board of directors.

The answer is not simple. It depends on the type of position you are aiming for. In some companies, EVP has more responsibilities than Senior VP.
